معرفی
Assoc. Prof. Ayşe DURUSOY is an active faculty member at Yıldız Technical University, where she serves in the Faculty of Arts & Science, Department of Physics. Her primary research focus is in Nuclear Physics, particularly in experimental methods of particle and nuclear physics. She has held various academic positions at the university since 1991, progressing from Research Assistant to her current role as Associate Professor since 2009.
Her educational background includes:
- Doctorate in Physics from Yildiz Technical University, Institute of Science (1991-2000)
- Postgraduate studies in Nuclear Sciences from Istanbul Technical University, Nuclear Energy Institute (1988-1991)
- Undergraduate degree in Physics from Yildiz Technical University, Faculty Of Arts & Science (1983-1988)
Ayşe DURUSOY's research primarily centers on nuclear physics with a strong emphasis on experimental methods. Her work focuses on neutron-induced nuclear reactions, particularly around 14 MeV energy levels, radiation measurements in environmental samples, and nuclear spectroscopy. She has made significant contributions to understanding cross sections for various nuclear reactions, nuclear structure studies of deformed nuclei, and environmental radiation monitoring, especially in the Rize region of Turkey where she has conducted extensive research on radioactivity in soil and tea samples.
Her scholarly output shows a consistent focus on nuclear reaction cross-section measurements, particularly for (n,alpha), (n,2n) reactions at energies around 14 MeV. Later in her career, her research expanded to include environmental radiation studies and nuclear structure investigations of deformed nuclei. The publications demonstrate a progression from fundamental nuclear reaction measurements to more applied environmental radiation studies and sophisticated nuclear structure investigations.
She has received several prestigious awards throughout her career:
- Science Encouragement Award from Yildiz Technical University (January 2007)
- International Scientific Publications Encouragement Award from TUBITAK (January 2003)
- Science Encouragement Award from Yildiz Technical University (January 1999)
- International Scientific Publications Encouragement Award from TUBITAK (December 1998)
- International Scientific Publications Encouragement Award from TUBITAK (July 1996)
Prof. DURUSOY has actively supervised multiple graduate students, including doctoral and master's candidates. Her research has been supported by various funding sources including TUBITAK and university-supported projects. She has served as principal investigator for projects such as "Experimental Investigation of Low-lying Dipole Strength in the Deformed Nucleus Gd-156" and "Natural Radiation Measurements in Soil and Tea Samples from Rize Province in the Black Sea Region." Additionally, she has contributed to the scientific community through peer review activities for journals like "Radiation Physics and Chemistry" and for research projects at multiple Turkish universities.
She is associated with the Nuclear Spectroscopy research infrastructure at Yildiz Technical University, established in September 2009, which supports advanced nuclear physics research. Her work appears to be closely connected with experimental nuclear physics facilities capable of conducting measurements with neutron sources around 14 MeV energy levels.
