Aynur Bahar is a Lecturer in the Department of Nursing at Gaziantep University's Faculty of Health Sciences, specializing in Psychiatric Nursing. She earned her doctorate from Gaziantep University Institute of Health Sciences in 2021 and has served as a faculty member since 2002, following her earlier degree in Psychiatry Nursing from the same institution (2003-2005).
Dr. Bahar has held significant administrative positions including Deputy Director of Vocational School/College (2011-2014), Head of Department (2009-2014), and Program Head (2009-2014). Her professional journey began as a teacher-education nurse at Gaziantep American Hospital from 1995 to 2002 before transitioning to academia.
Her research spans multiple dimensions of psychiatric and mental health nursing, with particular emphasis on suicide prevention, geriatric mental health, depression treatment modalities, and psychological resilience. She has published extensively with 12 book chapters, 64 articles, and 11 conference presentations, demonstrating consistent scholarly productivity across two decades.
Analysis of her recent publications (2022-2024) reveals strong thematic continuity in sleep disorders research, depression treatment interventions, suicide risk assessment methodologies, and psychological resilience factors. Her work often addresses vulnerable populations including healthcare professionals, earthquake survivors, hemodialysis patients, and the elderly, demonstrating both clinical relevance and social impact.
Dr. Bahar is an active member of both the Psychiatric Nurses Association (since 2022) and the Turkish Nurses Association (since 2015). She has supervised thesis research, most recently on Syrian refugee adaptation (2024), reflecting her engagement with contemporary humanitarian challenges.
Her teaching portfolio includes foundational nursing courses (Nursing Principles, Introduction to Nursing) alongside specialized Psychiatry Nursing and comprehensive elderly care courses. International experience includes the SYRIAN NURSE ADAPTATION TRAINING project (2015) and the EU-funded ComPro Project on elderly care competencies (2006-2008).
