Axel Zimmermann

Axel Zimmermann (M.Sc.) is a doctoral researcher at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) affiliated with the Munich Data Science Institute (MDSI) and the Professorship for Thermofluid Dynamics. His work focuses on physics-based machine learning for thermoacoustic modeling in gas turbines and aircraft engines.

Research interests include

• Addressing thermoacoustic instabilities in hydrogen-based combustion systems
• Integrating physical knowledge into machine learning models
• Developing computationally efficient methodologies for nonlinear combustion dynamics

Publications highlight his work on Bayesian neural networks, physical loss functions, and data-driven modeling of laminar premixed flames. Collaborations include TUM's Thermofluid Dynamics group under Prof. Wolfgang Polifke.
