Axel Wismueller is a Professor of Imaging Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, and Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Rochester. He holds a PhD from the Technical University of Munich (2006) and is affiliated with the Hajim School of Engineering & Applied Sciences. His research focuses on developing computational visualization methods for analyzing high-dimensional biomedical imaging data, combining biological principles with machine learning and image processing. Key application areas include functional MRI for brain mapping, MRI mammography for breast cancer diagnosis, and multi-modality fusion in neurodegenerative diseases.

Research Interests: Mathematical algorithms for computational analysis, pattern recognition in clinical applications, biomedical time-series analysis, and quantitative bio-imaging.
