Axel Nordenstam is a PhD candidate in International Relations at the Department of Economic History and International Relations, Stockholm University. He is affiliated with the Stockholm Center on Global Governance and a member of the Stockholm University Graduate School of International Studies. His research focuses on EU-India relations, status dynamics in international affairs, and Indian foreign and climate policy.
His academic journey includes a MA in Contemporary European Studies (Euromasters) with distinction from University of Bath, Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, and Freie Universität Berlin, as well as a BA in Political Science from the University of Gothenburg with Erasmus exchange at University of Vienna.
Research outputs highlight Axel’s expertise in climate diplomacy, strategic partnerships, and Indo-European policy frameworks. His work spans multilateral climate initiatives (G20 Task Force proposals), EU-India cooperation at the International Solar Alliance, and analyses of India’s geopolitical dilemmas in conflict scenarios.
Axel has held professional roles including Visiting Fellow at the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (New Delhi), Analyst at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI), and internships at the Swedish Embassy in New Delhi and Human Rights Watch in New York. He also served as President of the Swedish Association of International Affairs and on the Executive Committee of the International Association for Political Science Students (IAPSS).
His publications appear in outlets like the Swedish Institute of International Affairs, Observer Research Foundation (ORF), Economic Times, and Springer, covering topics from climate policy analysis to Indo-Pacific strategic frameworks. Notably, his work addresses both policy implementation challenges and institutional collaboration mechanisms in global governance.
