Axel Jantsch

Prof. Axel Jantsch is a Professor at TU Wien (Vienna University of Technology, Austria) and holds visiting/guest professorships at Mid Sweden University and the University of Turku. His research focuses on embedded systems, network-on-chip (NoC), cyber-physical systems, and embedded machine learning. He pioneered the use of NoC terminology in academic publications and has contributed to 3D network-on-chip architectures.

Education: PhD in Computer Science from TU Wien (1992), followed by a postdoc and professorship at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (until 2014). He led KTH's Department of Electronic Systems and iPack research center.

Research: Specializes in self-aware cyber-physical systems, embedded IoT systems, and data-intensive applications. His group at KTH was first to formalize the term NoC. Current projects include the 'Embedded Deep Learning Systems - EDGY' initiative.

Additional Roles: Visiting Professorships at Technical University of Vienna, Fudan University (Shanghai), and Chinese Academy of Sciences (Shenzhen). Serves as part of the STC Research Centre.
