Axel Halfmeier

Professor Axel Halfmeier holds the Chair of Civil Law, Comparative Law and International Private and Procedural Law at Leuphana Law School, Leuphana University Lüneburg since March 2012. His academic career spans German, European, and international legal frameworks with a focus on transnational private law applications.

His research interests center on Civil Law systems across jurisdictions, Comparative Law methodologies, and the intersection of International Private Law with procedural mechanisms. Key emphases include transnational economic law and dispute resolution frameworks within globalized commercial contexts.

Professor Halfmeier maintains active teaching responsibilities while contributing to the Joachim Herz Doctoral College for Law and the Center for European and International Law (CEIL). His institutional engagement includes participation in scientific lecture series such as the Luhmann Lecture and Lüneburger Rechtsgespräche.
