Aviva Winton is an Associate Lecturer in Holocaust Studies and Jewish Civilisation at the University of Sydney, affiliated with the Department of Hebrew, Biblical and Jewish Studies. She is currently completing her PhD in this department, focusing on an ethnographic study of the Chabad community in Sydney. Previously, she taught at the Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning through the Sydney University’s Centre for Continuing Education.

Her research explores Hasidic traditions, Jewish mysticism, Holocaust literature, and European Jewish history. She actively engages with contemporary Jewish communities and their cultural narratives.

Teaching focuses on Jewish history, Holocaust representation, and intercultural memory. She has designed courses like JCTC1004 (Judaism: A History) and JCTC3603 (Representing the Holocaust), emphasizing critical analysis of historical and literary sources.
