Aviv Yaish is a Doctoral Student in the School of Computer Science and Engineering at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HUJI), funded by the Ze’ev Jabotinsky Fellowship. He also served as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Innsbruck, Austria in 2023. His research focuses on the economics and security of blockchains, including transaction fee mechanisms, mining strategies, and time manipulation in cryptocurrencies like Ethereum. Yaish holds an M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Computer Science from HUJI.
His research explores interdisciplinary topics at the intersection of computer science, economics, and cryptography. Notable contributions include analyzing miner incentives in blockchain protocols, studying consensus mechanism vulnerabilities, and evaluating hardware costs in cryptocurrency mining. Yaish has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Hebrew University’s teaching excellence award (2021) and Dean’s Prize (2018).
