Avishek Ganguly is an Associate Professor at the Rhode Island School of Design within the School of Literary Arts and Studies. A scholar with a PhD from Columbia University, he earned his BA from Calcutta University and MA from Jawaharlal Nehru University. His work bridges translation, theater, cultural studies, and decolonial theory.

Ganguly’s research explores the ethics and politics of translation, the role of performance in global cultural exchange, and critical interrogations of contemporary urban musical cultures in India. His focus on the "long nineteen sixties" and Indian popular cinema reflects a commitment to transnational cultural analysis. He actively integrates design and humanities in experimental projects.
His recent publications include co-edited volumes on translation and performance, reflecting a collaborative approach to interdisciplinary scholarship. Ganguly’s current work investigates the cultural politics of "Global Englishes" and design-humanities interfaces.

Ganguly has held visiting fellowships at Freie Universität Berlin and Jawaharlal Nehru University.
