Avinash Unnikrishnan

Dr. Avinash Unnikrishnan serves as the Wedge Vision Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering within the Maseeh College of Engineering & Computer Science at Portland State University, where his research develops mathematical models to enhance civil infrastructure resilience through large-scale optimization, machine learning, and simulation tools with innovations in network uncertainty representation and user behavior analysis.

His research interests focus on critical transportation and infrastructure domains:

• Freight and Logistics
• Resilient Network Infrastructure Systems
• Human Health, Infrastructure Resilience and Extreme Events
• Pedagogy

Professionally, he chairs the Transit, Freight, and Logistics Subcommittee (AEP40(1)) of the Transportation Research Board's Transportation Network Modeling Committee and serves on the American Society of Civil Engineers' Freight and Logistics Committee. His teaching portfolio includes undergraduate and graduate courses such as CE 351 Introduction to Transportation Engineering, CE 410 Applied Probability & Statistics in CEE, CE 414/514 Transportation Seminar, and advanced topics in Transportation Network Analysis, Computer Methods, and Reliability & Risk in Civil Engineering.
