Avi Friedman is a Professor at the McGill University School of Architecture, where he co-founded the Affordable Homes Program in 1988. With a career spanning academia and architectural practice, he holds degrees from the Technion, McGill University, and Université de Montréal.

He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, books, and monographs, while maintaining a syndicated column "Forward Thinking" for Canwest newspapers since 2000. His projects have been featured in Popular Science, Architecture and Home, and media outlets like the BBC's How Buildings Learn.
