Aurora Kamimura

Aurora Kamimura is a Lecturer in Education and Assistant Provost for Inclusive Excellence at Washington University. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. Her career spans over 20 years focused on broadening access, equity, and diversity in education pathways from K-12 to professoriate levels. Her research explores organizational change mechanisms to diversify academia, particularly in STEM fields, and strategies supporting Latinx/a/o, immigrant, and undocumented students. She has taught at multiple institutions including University of Michigan, UC Irvine, and Southern Methodist University, emphasizing inclusive pedagogy.

Her administrative roles include serving as Associate Dean and currently leading Inclusive Excellence initiatives as Assistant Provost. Nationally, she serves as Treasurer-Elect for the American Association of Hispanics for Higher Education (AAHHE). Her work bridges student affairs and academic affairs through roles in Outreach, Multicultural Affairs, and Academic Support Services. Kamimura is a sought-after expert in inclusive teaching strategies, having developed workshops on topics like 'Inclusive Teaching During the First Week' and contributed to national dialogues through podcasts/webinars.
