Audrey Kali, Ph.D. serves as Professor in the Communication, Media, & Performance Department at Framingham State University in Framingham, Massachusetts.
Her educational background includes a B.A. from Chatham University and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Kali teaches courses including Human Communication, Small Group Communication, Interpersonal Dialogue, Advanced Public Speaking, Science Communication, Persuasion and Social Influence, and Argumentation and Advocacy.
Her research examines how human communication synthesizes verbal language, visual images, and nonverbal performative expression. She has explored rhetorical debates about humane standards in animal agriculture, both directing and appearing in the documentary film Farm and Red Moon. Her scholarly work has been published in Communication Quarterly, Rhetoric Review, and the textbook The Rhetoric of Western Thought. She served as a reviewer for the Journal of Critical Animal Studies and received a Fulbright Scholar Award to teach at the University of Malawi.
Dr. Kali currently focuses on the intersection of art and science, particularly how these disciplines complement each other in communicating science to public audiences. Her extensive macrophotography work with insects exemplifies this interdisciplinary approach.

Her photography practice spans numerous categories including arachnids, insects, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, botanical subjects, and abstract nature photography. Through her lens, she reveals patterns and details invisible to the naked eye, demonstrating how technical photographic apparatuses extend human perception of the natural world. Her photography website showcases over a dozen specialized galleries documenting intricate natural phenomena.
