Audrey Gasch is a Professor in the Department of Genetics at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. She directs the Gasch Lab, which focuses on understanding how eukaryotic cells sense and respond to environmental stress, and how these processes relate to human diseases. The lab is affiliated with the UW-Madison Laboratory of Genetics and the Center for Genomic Science Innovation (CGSI), where Gasch serves as Director.
- Research Interests: Stress-activated signaling networks, evolution of genotype-phenotype relationships, heterogeneity in stress response, and computational/systems biology approaches.
- Focus Areas: Utilizes Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a model organism to study cellular stress coordination, aneuploidy tolerance, and translational reallocation during stress.
Publication Trends: Recent work explores aneuploidy-induced aging mechanisms, comparative modeling of fitness costs in yeast, and natural genetic variation in stress responses. Studies integrate genomics, proteomics, and computational modeling across eukaryotes, including humans.
Lab & Collaborations: The lab participates in the NHGRI IGVF consortium and collaborates on leveraging yeast genetics to inform human disease susceptibility. Postdoctoral positions are available in areas such as aneuploidy tolerance and human Down syndrome models.
