Audeen W. Fentiman serves as the Associate Dean of Engineering for Graduate Education and Interdisciplinary Studies and Professor of Nuclear Engineering at Purdue University's College of Engineering, a position she assumed in spring 2006 after transitioning from Ohio State University where she held leadership roles including Chair of the Nuclear Engineering Program and Director of the Nuclear Reactor Laboratory.
Her academic credentials comprise a BS in mathematics (minor in physics), an MA in mathematics, and MS/PhD degrees in Nuclear Engineering, all earned at Ohio State University.
Dr. Fentiman's research spans radioactive waste management, environmental risk assessment, and engineering education innovation. She pioneered curriculum development initiatives including revamping freshman engineering coursework and creating a year-long Introduction to Engineering program for high school seniors. Her industry experience at Battelle involved nuclear waste repository performance assessment in salt formations and leading security analysis of spent nuclear fuel transportation casks against explosive threats.
She co-authored the textbook Radioactive Waste Management with James Saling, establishing foundational knowledge in nuclear waste handling methodologies.
