Athéna Papadakis is a Professor at the University of Montreal's Faculty of Dental Medicine, Department of Oral Health. She specializes in orthodontics with a focus on surgical-orthodontic treatments, pain perception, and sleep-related disorders in dental patients. Her academic roles include teaching courses like SAB-2052 – Médecine dentaire factuelle and SAB-6336 – Orthodontie pré chirurgie.
Education: Graduated from the University of Liverpool (UK) in Dental Medicine (1997), completed a fellowship at the Royal College of Surgeons of England (2000), and earned her orthodontic specialization with a Master's from Université de Montréal (2003). She maintains a private practice alongside her academic role.
Research Interests: Dr. Papadakis investigates the clinical and radiological impacts of surgical-assisted rapid palatal expansion (EPRAC), orthodontic retention techniques, and the relationship between malocclusion, smoking, and obesity. Her work also addresses sleep-disordered breathing in orthodontic patients and the application of digital technologies in orthodontic diagnostics.
