Ateka A. Contractor is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Psychology at the University of North Texas (UNT). They lead the UNT S.TR.E.S.S. Lab, focusing on traumatic experiences and PTSD symptomatology.

Research Interests center on three key areas: (1) heterogeneity in traumatic experiences and PTSD symptoms, (2) mechanisms underlying PTSD comorbidity with depression, impulse-control issues, and substance use disorders, and (3) cultural and personality influences on PTSD symptom expression. Their work aims to advance understanding of trauma-related mental health conditions through interdisciplinary approaches.
