Ata G. Zare

Dr. Ata G. Zare is an Assistant Professor in Business Intelligence & Operations Management at Nyenrode Business University, where he is part of the Faculty Research Center for Marketing & Supply Chain Management.

Dr. Zare's research spans multiple disciplines at the intersection of data science and business operations. His work bridges artificial intelligence, operations research, and behavioral economics, with a strong focus on how data-driven models can support better decision-making in complex systems. He applies optimization and machine learning techniques to improve business performance across transportation, supply chain optimization, e-commerce, and fintech sectors.

His publications demonstrate expertise in stochastic models and inventory systems, with particular focus on two-echelon production-inventory systems and service operations. His research has been published in leading journals including Production and Operations Management, Operations Research Letters, Naval Research Logistics, and Probability in the Engineering and Informational Sciences.

Dr. Zare brings extensive industry experience as a Senior Machine Learning/AI Consultant, having designed and deployed end-to-end AI applications using computer vision, natural language processing, and large language models. His practical experience directly informs his teaching approach where he guides students in applying analytical tools to solve real-world business problems.

He teaches courses in business and operations analytics, stochastic models, operations management, business intelligence and AI, and big data analytics. As an active participant in the entrepreneurship ecosystem, he advises startups on leveraging AI and machine learning to scale their businesses.
