Astrid Haas

Astrid Haas is an Associate Professor in American Literature and Culture at the University of Bergen, Norway. She holds a PhD from the University of Münster and a Habilitation from Bielefeld University (Germany). Her research focuses on North American literatures, cultures, and history from the 18th century to the present, with specialties in Early North American Studies, Transnational Migration, and Border Studies. She is a member of multiple research groups, including the Research Group 'Aesthetic and Cultural Studies' and the 'Black Americas: Transdisciplinary Dialogues' network.

Current Project:

Explores Black autobiographies and mobility in the Americas (1760-1860) under the EU-funded Horizon 2020 program. This interdisciplinary work bridges Black Atlantic Studies, Mobility Studies, and Autobiography Studies.

Teaching:

Covers American literature, Early American Studies, and Inter-American cultural histories.
