معرفی
Aslı Garagon serves as a Professor in the Department of Geodesy at Bogazici University's Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute, where she has held a faculty position since 2012. Her work focuses on geodetic monitoring of active fault systems in Turkey using advanced geospatial technologies.
Education:
- PhD in Geomatics Engineering, Istanbul Technical University (2008). Thesis: Integration of data related to earthquakes from a variety of disciplines in a web-GIS.
- MS in Geodesy and Photogrammetry Engineering, Istanbul Technical University (2002).
- BS in Geodesy and Photogrammetry Engineering, Istanbul Technical University (1999).
Research Focus: Professor Garagon specializes in analyzing crustal deformation along the North Anatolian Fault, East Anatolian Fault, and Aegean extension region. Her methodology integrates GPS, SAR, and seismometer data to study earthquake mechanisms and aseismic slip phenomena, with particular emphasis on multi-disciplinary data fusion through web-GIS platforms for seismic hazard assessment.
Academic Activities: She teaches core courses including Fundamentals of Geodesy, High Precision GPS Geodesy, and Information Technologies and GIS at both undergraduate and graduate levels across Bogazici University and Ozgur University's Civil Engineering programs. Her research contributes directly to Turkey's earthquake monitoring infrastructure through the Kandilli Observatory.
