Dr. Asim Siddiqui serves as a Research Fellow at the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences within the Faculty of Engineering and Science at the University of Greenwich. He is a core member of the Centre for Safety, Resilience and Protective Security (CSRPS), formerly known as the Fire Safety Engineering Group (FSEG), leveraging nearly 25 years of Computer Science expertise in Fire Safety Engineering applications.
His research centers on Building Information Modelling (BIM) enabled digital workflows in fire safety contexts, with specialized focus on openBIM applications for occupant movement analysis and fire modeling. He actively explores infrastructure integration and digital twins for smart city development while applying database systems and programming expertise across interdisciplinary projects. Current initiatives include international collaborations administered by buildingSMART International.
Dr. Siddiqui has contributed to major funded projects including Innovate UK/EPSRC's LIFEBID, EU FP7's BeSeCu, EPSRC's WTC Evacuation Study, and UK Civil Aviation Authority's AASK Database. He serves as Module Leader, Module Tutor, MSc Project Supervisor, and PhD Supervisor while maintaining CSRPS technical infrastructure including customer licensing databases and educational websites.
Within the CSRPS team, he leads openBIM implementation for occupant movement analysis and fire modeling workflows, with recent projects transitioning from completed international collaborations to new fire modeling initiatives. His technical stewardship extends to CSRPS website management and short course technical support systems.
