Professor Asif Tahir is affiliated with the University of Exeter in the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences. His research focuses on renewable energy technologies, particularly solar energy conversion through photovoltaics, hydrogen production, and photocatalysis.

- Light-induced water oxidation/reduction reactions on nanostructured semiconductor electrodes
- Photocatalytic degradation of industrial pollutants for environmental sustainability
- Material science of metal oxides, oxynitrides, and nitrides
