Ashutosh Trivedi is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder), affiliated with the College of Engineering and Applied Science. His research focuses on formal methods for rigorous system engineering of data-driven systems, emphasizing safety, privacy, fairness, and accountability. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Warwick, specializing in game theory and optimization.
His academic journey includes roles as an Assistant Professor at IIT Bombay and postdoctoral work at the University of Pennsylvania and Oxford. Key research interests span reinforcement learning, formal verification of cyber-physical systems, and ethical software development. He leads the Programming Languages and Verification (CUPLV) group at CU Boulder.
Notable contributions include work on barrier certificates for dynamical systems, fairness-aware debugging in ML libraries, and MDP-based reinforcement learning frameworks. He has received awards such as the NSF CAREER Award (2022) and the Bell Foundation Research Award (2022).
Trivedi teaches advanced courses on formal methods, automata theory, and cyber-physical systems. His lab (CUPLV) develops tools like Mungojerrie for model-free reinforcement learning and explores applications in healthcare and autonomous systems.
