Ashok Sharma is an Associate Professor at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG), Augusta University. He holds academic appointments in the Departments of Population Health Science, Center for Biotechnology and Genomic Medicine, Culver Vision Discovery Institute, and Ophthalmology. As the Genomic Medicine Graduate Program Director, he oversees interdisciplinary training.

Research focuses on bioinformatics, proteomics, and genomic medicine, particularly in ocular fluids (aqueous humor, tear fluid) and diabetes-related complications. Key projects include the Aqueous Humor Proteomics Database (AHP DB) and tear fluid biomarker discovery. Collaborates on large-scale studies like TEDDY and PAGODA.
