Ashley Perry serves as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the International Policing and Public Protection Research Institute (IPPPRI) within Anglia Ruskin University's Faculty of Arts, Humanities, Education and Social Sciences. Her research specializes in sexual violence in law and culture, with critical focus on criminal justice processes for victims/survivors, child sexual abuse, non-offending partners of offenders, and researcher well-being.
Her academic foundation includes:
- BA in Social Work (reproductive health focus) from University of Alabama
- MSc in Human Rights from University College Dublin
- MA in International Law & Diplomacy from American University of Paris
Perry's research examines how cultural norms around gender and sexuality influence rape legislation interpretation and survivors' access to justice. She employs mixed-methods approaches, integrating academic rigor with advocacy for NGOs addressing sexual violence and institutional abuse by the Catholic Church in Ireland. Current projects investigate trauma impacts on professionals handling child sexual abuse materials.
