Ashley McClenaghan

Dr. Ashley McClenaghan serves as a Lecturer in Software Engineering within the Computing Science and Mathematics Division at the University of Stirling's Faculty of Natural Sciences. With over 25 years of combined academic and industry experience, they hold both a PhD and BSc in Computing Science and have collaborated with major institutions including Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan Chase, HSBC, Philips Research, and HP Labs.

Research interests focus on engineering cutting-edge data technologies into software stacks, including graph databases, distributed ledgers, and large language models. Key projects include Social Credit Fintech (tokenization on Convex blockchain), Econome AI (real-time web analysis), ADAPT (treatment pathway recommendations using XGBoost and SentenceTransformers), Data Commons Scotland (federated graph databases), and Waste Matters Scotland (accessible waste management data).

Research is organized under the Digital Society and Culture and Health & Behaviour programmes within the Data Science and Intelligent Systems research group. Current work emphasizes practical applications of blockchain, AI-driven data science, and semantic search technologies to solve real-world problems in finance, healthcare, and public sector data accessibility.
