Ashley Keiser is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology at the Stockbridge School of Agriculture, University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her research investigates carbon and nutrient cycling between plant and soil communities to predict biogeochemical responses to environmental change. She holds a B.S. from the University of New Hampshire (2004), an M.Phil. (2011), and Ph.D. (2014) from Yale University.
Research Focus: Dr. Keiser's work centers on:
- Mechanisms of carbon exchange in plant-soil-microbe systems
- Impacts of land management on soil health and nutrient dynamics
- Microbial mediation of decomposition and nitrogen cycling
- Agroecosystem sustainability under climate stress
Publication Trends: Her recent articles (2023-2025) emphasize:
- Field experiments on cover crops, living mulches, and mycorrhizal fungi
- Legacy effects of land use and invasive species on soil function
- Microbial controls over carbon storage in forests, peatlands, and salt marshes
- Scalable solutions for nitrogen management in agriculture
