Ashley Haines

Dr. Ashley Haines is a Professor of Biology at Norfolk State University’s College of Science, Engineering and Technology. She serves as Program Director for the HHMI-funded Inclusive Excellence SEC 3 UREs Grant and Co-PI for the NSF-funded Coastlines & People grant. Her work focuses on pathogens of fishes, non-vertebrate immune systems, and environmental restoration in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, while leading initiatives to enhance inclusive teaching practices and diversity in STEM.

Her research integrates microbial ecology with environmental justice, particularly in urban coastal communities, and she has mentored undergraduates in STEM since 2010.
