Dr. Ashley Edwards is an Associate Professor in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (UWL), where she teaches courses such as CST 110: Communicating Effectively and CST 430: Advanced Topics in Interpersonal Communication. She also contributes to the interdisciplinary Leadership Development minor and serves as an Inclusive Teaching Specialist in the Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning.
Her research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of interpersonal communication, technology, leadership, and culture. As a trained quantitative social scientist, her academic writing spans empirical research, rhetorical analysis, and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). She is currently exploring themes of gift economies and technology, as well as authenticity in pedagogy, aiming to publish her work in formats like zines and books.
Dr. Edwards emphasizes a reflective and process-oriented approach to writing, inspired by advice to 'leave breadcrumbs' for future work sessions. She values narrative and essay writing and believes communication style should adapt to different audiences, a skill she refers to as 'codeswitching.'
She plays a significant role in fostering inclusive teaching practices at UWL and is recognized as a featured writer in the campus community, sharing her insights on the writing life.
