Ashley Coles is Associate Professor of Geography at Texas Christian University's AddRan College of Liberal Arts. With a Ph.D. from the University of Arizona, her research examines human-environment interactions, particularly flash flood risk, community water management, and climate adaptation strategies. She teaches courses in Physical Geography, Environment and Society, and World Regional Geography.
Coles' work integrates participatory methods with environmental justice frameworks to analyze hazard perception, water governance, and landscape change. Her field research spans Arizona, Texas, Colombia, and Mexico, investigating community responses to environmental risks.
Current projects include motorist behavior during flash floods, community-managed water systems in Colombia, and non-expert knowledge integration in hazard management. Her geographical expertise bridges physical hazards and socio-political dimensions of resource governance.
