Dr. Ashish Aphale is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Kennesaw State University. He holds a PhD from the University of Bridgeport (2014), an MS (2008), and a BE from Sardar Patel University (2006). Prior to KSU, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Connecticut’s Center for Clean Energy Engineering, focusing on materials for clean energy systems.
His research emphasizes materials degradation mechanisms under high-temperature conditions, corrosion mitigation in electrochemical systems, and advanced materials for energy storage (e.g., supercapacitors) and biosensors. Current projects include developing chromium getters for SOFCs, nanocomposite electrodes for contaminant detection, and high-entropy alloys for methane reforming. He leads the Clean Energy Materials and Engineering Research Lab and oversees the OREO program, engaging high-school students in clean energy research.
Dr. Aphale teaches courses in heat transfer, materials science, and MATLAB for engineers. He has secured NSF funding for energy storage research and mentors a diverse team of graduate and undergraduate students. Recent recognitions include student presentations at the Materials Research Society (MRS) conference and participation in national undergraduate research forums.
