Asher Kaufman is a Professor of History and Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame's Keough School of Global Affairs, serving as Director of the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies. His expertise spans Middle East history and politics, with a focus on nationalism, colonialism, border studies, and memory.

Research Interests:
Kaufman investigates the intersection of historical memory and violence in the Middle East, particularly Israel, Lebanon, and Syria. His work analyzes colonial legacies, border conflicts, and how societies confront traumatic pasts.
Publications & Projects:
Recent works examine the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon, the Trans-Arabian Pipeline's geopolitical role, and memory dynamics in conflict zones. He compares Israel's occupation of South Lebanon with its control of Palestinian territories using interdisciplinary frameworks.
