Asher D. Biemann is a Professor in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Virginia. He holds a PhD from Karl-Franzens University of Graz and Hebrew University of Jerusalem, with research focusing on modern Jewish thought and cultural history.

Research Interests span Jewish and Continental philosophical traditions, with historical focus on Jewish life in Central Europe, Italy, Yishuv, and modern Israel. He contributes to critical editions of Martin Buber and Isaac Breuer, and collaborates on modern Jewish Orthodoxy studies.
Selected Publications include Dreaming of Michelangelo (2012), Inventing New Beginnings (2009), and editorial work on Martin Buber's writings.
