Asheli S. Atkins, MBA, is a Lecturer in the Division of Social Work, Behavioral and Political Sciences at Prairie View A&M University. Her research focuses on race, ethnicity, entrepreneurship, and organizational theory, particularly examining strategies Black entrepreneurs use to navigate market barriers through qualitative methods. She bridges sociology and business expertise, addressing systemic issues like racism, discrimination, and power dynamics affecting entrepreneurs.
Education: MBA (graduation date May 2020). Professional Affiliations: Member of the Texas A&M University Entrepreneurship Minor Steering Committee since 2018 and Qualitative Researcher at the May’s Innovation Research Center, studying product innovation in Houston-based accelerators and incubators.
Research Interests: Racial and Ethnic Relations, Organizational Theory, African American Entrepreneurship, Sociology of Entrepreneurship, Economic Sociology, Diversity in Innovation, and Gender Dynamics in Corporate Environments.
