Asaf Bitton, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Associate Professor of Health Care Policy at Harvard Medical School, and Associate Professor of Health Care Policy in the Department of Health Policy and Management at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He practices primary care medicine and serves as Assistant Medical Director at Brigham and Women’s Advanced Primary Care Associates in Jamaica Plain, MA. Dr. Bitton directs the Primary Health Care Performance Initiative at Ariadne Labs, a collaboration with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, World Bank, WHO, and Results for Development to measure and improve primary care performance in low- and middle-income countries. He also advises the Comprehensive Primary Care initiative at the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, focusing on payment reform and practice redesign.
His research focuses on improving primary care delivery through team-based models, payment structures, and global health interventions targeting non-communicable diseases. He previously studied tobacco control in low-resource settings.
Dr. Bitton’s work bridges clinical practice, policy, and global health systems innovation, aiming to enhance quality, equity, and cost-efficiency in healthcare delivery.
