Prof. Dr. Arzu Tektaş serves as Professor at Bogazici University's School of Applied Disciplines and Department of International Trade, concurrently holding leadership roles as Director of the School of Applied Disciplines (2008–present) and Deputy Director of the Center for Innovation and Competition (2011–present). Her academic career spans quantitative business disciplines with significant administrative contributions to Turkish higher education.
Her educational foundation includes a BS in Industrial Engineering (1984), MBA (1987; thesis: A Product-Mix Problem in Sanitary Paper Sector), and PhD in Business Administration-Quantitative Methods (1994; thesis: Quantitative Models for Motor Insurance with Application to the Turkish System), all from Bogazici University. She achieved Associate Professorship in 2004 and full Professorship in 2010.
Tektaş's research synthesizes quantitative methodology with practical business applications, focusing on innovation in SMEs, supply chain efficiency, EU harmonization processes, and sector-specific productivity analysis. Her work bridges theoretical models with Turkish economic contexts, particularly examining EU accession impacts and agricultural technology applications. The research demonstrates consistent evolution from financial crisis management (2003–2006) toward contemporary innovation systems and sustainable agriculture (2017–2021).
Her publication trajectory reveals three distinct phases: early work on banking efficiency and insurance modeling (2003–2006), mid-career focus on SME innovation and EU fund efficiency (2008–2012), and recent emphasis on agricultural technology and supply chain competitiveness (2016–2021). This progression reflects Turkey's economic transition from crisis recovery to innovation-driven development within European integration frameworks.
Major research projects include AGRICOMP (2021; €1.2M TÜBİTAK/PRIMA funding) developing agricultural supply chain solutions for Mediterranean smallholders, UNDP-funded IoT applications for sustainable farming (2021), and UK-Turkey agricultural technology partnerships (2017). These initiatives demonstrate sustained external funding from EU bodies, UNDP, and national agencies addressing Turkey's economic modernization challenges.
She teaches core courses including Trade Operations and Supply Chain Management, Quantitative Analysis, and Innovation Management while overseeing institutional development through senate committee roles. Her administrative leadership encompasses departmental restructuring (Head of International Trade Department, 2002–2004) and national policy influence via the Interuniversity Council of Turkey (2011–2015).
