Aryo Makko, Professor at Stockholm University, serves as Director of the Hans Blix Center for the History of International Relations. A Pro Futura Scientia XI Fellow at Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study, he has held visiting positions at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (2020/21) and Leibniz Institute for Contemporary History. His research fundamentally reinterprets Cold War neutrality through archival analysis, challenging Sweden's moralistic foreign policy narrative with evidence of strategic realism in his seminal work Ambassadors of Realpolitik (2016) and subsequent monographs.
