معرفی
Arvid Sjölander is a Professor of Biostatistics at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Karolinska Institutet. His research focuses on causal inference methods, particularly in observational studies, sibling data analysis, and doubly robust estimation. He collaborates on applied projects in genetic and nutritional epidemiology. Sjölander holds a PhD from Karolinska Institutet (2009), an MSc in Mathematical Statistics (Stockholm University, 2004), and an MSc in Electrical Engineering (Royal Institute of Technology, 2002).
Research Interests: His work bridges statistical theory and practical applications, emphasizing causal diagrams, instrumental variables, and sensitivity analysis. Key areas include developing methods to address unmeasured confounding, mediation analysis, and sibling comparison designs. He also explores the integration of Mendelian randomization with observational data.
Recognition: Notable awards include the Causality in Statistics Education Award (2016), F1000 recognitions for influential papers, and the Biomedicinarnas pedagogiska pris (2008). He serves as an associate editor for European Journal of Epidemiology and Biometrics.
Grants & Leadership: Leads projects on obesity's cardiovascular effects, neurodevelopmental risk factors, and causal inference methodologies. He has secured funding from the Swedish Research Council, NIH, and others. Sjölander has advised over 20 PhD students and actively participates in academic committees, including dissertation panels and steering groups for epidemiology training programs.
Labs & Teams: Heads the Causal Inference Research Group at Karolinska Institutet, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations in statistical methodology and public health applications.
