معرفی
Arthur Schwarz is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Southwestern Adventist University (SWAU), where he has served for 14 years. His academic journey includes roles as Senior Lecturer at Bugema University (Uganda) and directorships in Hong Kong. He holds a Ph.D. in Plant Ecology (1988, University of Saskatchewan) and earlier degrees from Walla Walla University (M.S. 1984; B.S. 1978). His research focuses on plant ecology, climate change impacts, and grassland conservation, particularly in boreal and prairie ecosystems.
Dr. Schwarz's education includes:
- Ph.D. Plant Ecology, University of Saskatchewan, 1988
- M.S. Biology, Walla Walla University, 1984
- B.S. Biology, Walla Walla University, 1978
His research interests span plant physiology, grassland ecosystems, and the intersection of science and religion. Notable areas include C4 grass adaptations, conifer regeneration under drought, and boreal forest dynamics. He has contributed to landmark publications on rare Alberta plants and climate-fire interactions in boreal regions.
Publications themes emphasize climate change's ecological impacts, grassland conservation, and tree physiology. His work bridges empirical field studies with theoretical models of ecosystem response.
Dr. Schwarz has received grants from the Province of Alberta, Alberta Teachers Association, and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. Awards include the Boreal Alberta Research Grant (1989, 1991) and University Postgraduate Scholarship (1982–1986).
He serves as Chair of the Physiological Section of the Botanical Society of America (since 2018) and actively participates in conservation initiatives. His teaching spans plant biology, microbiology, and environmental studies.
Labs/teams: Collaborates with international researchers on boreal forest conservation and grassland ecology projects, though specific lab names are not detailed.
