Professor Arthur Rose was the Chairman of the Art Department at Claflin University, South Carolina. The Arthur Rose Museum, originally constructed as Claflin's first library building in 1898, later housed the art department under his leadership before its relocation to Layman Hall. The museum preserves the building's Victorian architectural details, including ornate trim work and a pressed metal ceiling.
