معرفی
Arthur Avila is a Professor at the Institute of Mathematics, University of Zurich, and also holds the position of Pesquisador extraordinário (Cátedra Armínio Fraga) at IMPA in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His academic work is centered in the field of mathematics, particularly in dynamical systems and mathematical physics.
Avila's research interests include Dynamical Systems, Mathematical Physics, Spectral Theory, Ergodic Theory, Complex Dynamics, and Teichmüller Theory. He has made fundamental contributions to the understanding of Schrödinger operators, Lyapunov exponents, and interval exchange transformations, solving several long-standing problems in the field.
His recent publications demonstrate a focus on the spectral theory of quasi-periodic operators, especially the almost Mathieu operator, and the dynamics of the Teichmüller flow. Key achievements include the solution to the Ten Martini Problem and advances in the global theory of one-frequency Schrödinger operators, showing intricate phase transitions and spectral properties.
