Dr. Arshia Ghaffari is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine and Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. As Director of the USC+DaVita Dialysis Center and Associate Chief of Clinical Affairs in Nephrology and Hypertension, he specializes in advanced kidney diseases, kidney stone management, and post-acute kidney injury. Fluent in Farsi, Spanish, and English, he holds degrees from UC San Diego, Boston University, and Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine.
His research focuses on peritoneal dialysis optimization, chronic kidney disease management, and healthcare equity. Notable contributions include studies on urgent-start PD outcomes, genetic factors in dialysis efficacy, and pandemic-era nephrology practices. He received the 2012 DaVita Quality Improvement Award and 2006 ASN Travel Grant.
Clinically, Dr. Ghaffari emphasizes preserving renal function through holistic approaches and leads the nephrology fellowship’s kidney stone education. He directs the USC dialysis program and advocates for PD-first policies. His work integrates clinical practice, education, and research to address kidney disease challenges globally.
