Dr. Arpitha Kodiveri is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Vassar College, specializing in environmental law and climate justice with a focus on South Asia. She holds advanced degrees from the European University Institute (PhD, ML), UC Berkeley (ML), and Indian Law Society's Law College (BL, BS). Her research examines legal frameworks addressing climate harms to indigenous communities, particularly forest-dwelling groups in India.
Her landmark book *Governing Forests* (2024) contrasts Global North/South climate responses, highlighting struggles of communities balancing conservation and survival. She previously worked as an environmental lawyer supporting Adivasi communities and has held prestigious fellowships including the Hans Kelsen (EUI) and Fulbright-Nehru awards.
Publications include analyses of India's Forest Conservation Act amendments, climate litigation challenges, and legal mobilization strategies.
