Aron Liaw, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Urology at Wayne State University, where he has served since 2020. He also holds the clinical appointment of Associate Residency Program Director, underscoring his commitment to medical education alongside patient care.

Clinical & Research Focus

Dr. Liaw’s clinical expertise lies at the intersection of Pediatric Urology and Reconstructive Urology. He is particularly devoted to the management of congenital urological anomalies and the transitional care of patients moving from pediatric to adult services.

His research portfolio explores regenerative approaches to urological disease, including innovative use of amniotic membrane and chorion-based biologics for refractory bladder pain syndromes and complex urethral strictures. These translational efforts aim to reduce morbidity and improve quality of life for patients with otherwise treatment-resistant conditions.

Publication Themes

Across his six most recent publications, Dr. Liaw interrogates two complementary themes: (1) evidence-based refinement of active surveillance strategies in prostate cancer through probabilistic risk modeling, and (2) development of regenerative therapies employing amniotic-derived biologics for inflammatory and fibrotic urological disorders. His work integrates clinical epidemiology with cutting-edge translational science.
