Arno W. Hoes is Full Professor at Utrecht University/University Medical Center Utrecht, where he also serves as vice-chair of the executive board and dean of the medical faculty. He obtained his medical degree from Radboud University and a PhD in cardiovascular pharmacology from Erasmus University Rotterdam, with additional training in clinical epidemiology at Erasmus MC and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Previously, he chaired the Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care (2010–2019).
His research focuses on cardiovascular disease prevention, early diagnosis methodologies, and clinical epidemiology in primary care settings. Key interests include risk stratification, integrated care models for chronic conditions, and optimizing treatment protocols for atrial fibrillation and heart failure.
Recent publications (2023–2024) demonstrate a strong emphasis on evidence-based interventions in cardiology and infectious diseases, spanning dengue diagnostics, anticoagulant therapy safety, and proactive cardiovascular screening in high-risk populations.
