Arne Jørgensen is a Professor of Environmental History at the University of Stavanger's Faculty of Educational Sciences and Humanities, Department of Cultural and Linguistic Studies. He leads the Greenhouse Center for Environmental Humanities, established as a research center in 2022. His work focuses on intersections between technology, nature, and culture, with recent projects including the EU-funded DigiFREN initiative on digital technologies and landscapes, and the INTPART-funded Asia-Norway Environmental Storytelling Network.
Prior to UiS, he served as an Associate Professor at Umeå University (2010–2017), earning Meritorious Teacher awards at both institutions. His research explores digital cultural heritage, sustainability, and environmental citizenship through citizen science and media studies. He actively supervises master’s students in these areas.
