معرفی
Arne Elofsson is a Professor of Bioinformatics at Stockholm University, affiliated with the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics. His research group focuses on integrating large-scale life-science data with artificial intelligence to advance understanding of molecular biological processes.
- Develops deep-learning methods for human proteome analysis, emphasizing proteoforms (splice variants, post-translational modifications).
- Specializes in protein-protein interactions using language models and structural modeling via AlphaFold.
- Primary research areas: transmembrane proteins, repeat domain-containing proteins (key drug targets and disease-related proteins).
Recent research trends include self-supervised AI techniques for unannotated data, native mass spectrometry validation, and classification of novel CPA/AT transporter fold-types (e.g., Reentrant-Helix-Reentrant). Publications highlight applications of tools like trRosetta, DeepMetaPsicov, and PconsC4 in structural biology.
Teaching: Offers a Bioinformatics course as part of the Molecular Life Sciences Master's program and a standalone distance-learning course at Stockholm University.
Group members include six PhD students: Saman Hosseini Ashtiani, Patrick Bryant, Oxana Lundström, Gabriele Pozzati, Aditi Shenoy, and Wensi Zhu. Funding sources: VR-NT, KAW, and EU.
