معرفی
Arnaud Cassan is a Lecturer at Sorbonne University and a Researcher at the Paris Institute of Astrophysics (IAP). His work focuses on gravitational microlensing for exoplanet detection, stellar atmosphere analysis, and binary lens systems. He has contributed to discoveries of low-mass planets and brown dwarfs, with expertise in time-domain astronomy and high-angular-resolution observations.
- PhD thesis in astrophysics from Université Pierre et Marie Curie (2005): "Searching for extra-solar planets and probing the atmosphere of Bulge giant stars through gravitational microlensing"
- Author of books like "Encountering Life Elsewhere with Alien" (2024) and "The Beautiful Book of Astronomy" (2022)
His research spans exoplanet abundance, limb-darkening measurements, and microlensing surveys. He has developed Bayesian analysis tools for microlensing events and participated in campaigns like RoboNet-II and K2 Mission's Campaign 9.
Recent publications (2025-2024) highlight studies on lens mass estimation, planetary systems in the Galactic disk, and interferometric observations. His work has been recognized with the Roberval Prize 2016 for science communication.
