Arnaldo Camuffo is a Full Professor of Management at Bocconi University's Department of Management & Technology. He serves as Co-Director of the ION Management Science Lab at the SDA-Bocconi School of Management and has held visiting positions at MIT's Industrial Performance Center and the University of Michigan, Dearborn. His educational background includes a Master of Science (SM) from MIT Sloan School of Management (1989) and a PhD from the University of Venice (1990).
Camuffo's research focuses on strategic decision-making processes in entrepreneurial contexts, lean management systems, and modularity in product and organizational design. He also explores strategic human capital dynamics and interorganizational relationships, particularly in manufacturing industries. His work emphasizes evidence-based methodologies, including randomized control trials (RCTs), to validate management practices and entrepreneurial strategies.
In 2023, his co-authored paper 'Curbing the Addition Bias: Scientific Approaches and Propensity to Subtract in Entrepreneurial Ideas Development' received the Best Empirical Paper Award from the Entrepreneurship Division at the Academy of Management Conference. This reflects his commitment to empirical research in entrepreneurship and strategic management.
